Jeffery S. Burkhart, 53, of Humble Drive in Hedgesville, was arraigned Thursday in Berkeley County Magistrate Court for a misdemeanor charge of battery. Burkhart was arrested Thursday for an incident occurring in November 2008. According to a criminal complaint, Burkhart allegedly hit the Eagle Mart manager after a communication error regarding whether or not Burkhart had paid for gas.

Walter Ray Campbell, 37, of Joy Court in Martinsburg, was arraigned Thursday in Berkeley County Magistrate Court for a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. According to a criminal complaint, Campbell struck his daughter in the face and neck, and police observed red marks on her neck. The victim was under 18 years old.

James Norris Chambers, 61, of Evergreen Drive in Martinsburg, was arraigned Thursday in Berkeley County Magistrate Court for a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. Chambers allegedly tried to throw the victim — a resident of the home — out of the house on Wednesday night. During the altercation, Chambers allegedly threw the victim to the ground outside of the house.

Gregory Alan Drennan, 53, of Effie Lane in Martinsburg, was arraigned Thursday in Berkeley County Magistrate Court for misdemeanor and felony charges of inhaling toxic compounds and DUI, third offense. Police responded to the area of Effie Lane in Falling Waters after it was reported a drunk driver struck a mailbox. Police located the driver, identified as Drennan, on Fisor Lane in Falling Waters.
