Mogammad Yaagiyah Rubain appeared in the Simon's Town Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Britz’s body was discovered in bushes in the Ocean View area. According to the Daily Voice, it is believed that the teen was strangled with her own hoodie. He pants were partially removed but an orange blanket was thrown over her naked body.
Witnesses told the publication that the teen’s intestines were hanging outside of her body.
It also emerged that Camron and the man accused of her murder are related. Her father and Rubain's father are cousins.
Britz was raped vaginally and anally, the State said.
On Wednesday, State prosecutor Chloe Morris said that the murder accused allegedly lured the teen away from a community bonfire saying that her father had sent him to collect her.
"Witnesses saw him leave with her, other accounts place him with the victim and another leaving the scene of the crime on the morning of the discovery," Morris said.
Family members said that a month ago, Camron allegedly had a dream about her murder. She told her mother that she was gang-raped and murdered but could not see who her killers were.
One of the letters in which the teen described her death and her funeral has been taken in by police as evidence.
Rubain has applied for legal aid. He is expected back in court on August 3 . His counsel is expected to deliver evidence of exceptional circumstances in order for him to be granted bail, EWN reports.
