Outa on Thursday laid charges of treason and racketeering against President Jacob Zuma’s son, Dudzane, and the Gupta brothers – Atul, Ajay and Rajesh.

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa) on Thursday laid charges of treason and racketeering against President Jacob Zuma’s son, Dudzane, and the Gupta brothers – Atul, Ajay and Rajesh Gupta – saying that they were at the heart of allegations of state capture.

Outa laid the charges at the Randburg Police Station, with an accompanying affidavit detailing its allegations. Outa’s affidavit also names a number of senior government officials and people close to the president as being implicated in state capture. Former Eskom chief executive officer Brian Molefe; Gloria Bongi Ngema-Zuma, the president’s sixth wife; his daughter Duduzile Zuma and Minister of Mineral Resources Mosebenzi Zwane are some of the high-ranking names mentioned in Outa’s affidavit.

Outa chief operating officer Ben Theron said that the charges were designed to combat organised crime.

“The Gupta family and their associates, at all relevant times, acted severally and jointly in common purpose to perpetrate illegal activities.

“They are at the heart of state capture. These charges are designed for combating organised crime, Theron said.
