A 26-year-old man was shot and fatally wounded inside a bank in Tongaat in KwaZulu-Natal.

The alleged bank robber tried to stab a police officer who retaliated by shooting him.
The police's spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala, said, "A verbal warning was issued, but the suspect ignored police. He then produced a knife and lunged at the policeman. The member produced his side firearm and shot the suspect in the upper chest."
Gwala said that no officers were injured.
"A knife was recovered from the crime scene and handed to Tongaat police," Gwala said.
