A man accused of killing his girlfriend and her two-year-old daughter has confessed to the two murders in court.
Paul Evans appeared in the Bellville Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Evans shocked the court when he confessed to the crimes.
The bodies of Shafieka Petersen and her daughter, Mishka, were found wrapped in blankets inside their home in N2 Gateway, Delft.
Petersen's landlord said that he became worried when he did not see her or her daughter. He and another tenant forced open the security gate and found Mishka's tiny body inside a cupboard.
The landlord said that the toddler's body had been cut up into pieces.
Shafieka's body was found in a plastic basin under a table inside their home.
The case has been postponed to January 11.
