Moloi may face PSL sanctions over Chiefs comments

Premier Soccer League spokesman Luxolo September says that Chippa United coach Teboho Moloi could still face sanctions over seemingly disparaging comments made against Kaizer Chiefs recently.

Speaking after Chippa's 1-0 defeat to Chiefs in November 5's Telkom Knockout quarter-final, Moloi said: "If I'm going to lose in this way then I'm still learning. I expect to lose with the opposition really coming at me, coming with a better tactical plan.

"But I have to accept because I grew up knowing that the only way Chiefs could beat me is this way."

Despite issuing a statement to withdraw his comments earlier this week citing he spoke in the heat of the moment, it appears the former Orlando Pirates star could still face punishment.

September told the Sowetan: "If you punch someone and apologise, it doesn't mean the prosecutor may not investigate the charge. An apology doesn't mean a crime was not committed.

"However, whether (Moloi) is charged or not is completely up to the PSL prosecutor. His apology could be taken into account, or used by his legal defence in mitigation, should he be charged."
