This Friday, we bring you a dazzling, 550-year-old pop of color: A scene from a 15th-century Chinese publication, “The Life and Activities of Shakyamuni Buddha Incarnate.” Those blues! Those reds! That white tiger! The Library recently made these and other works available online by launching the Chinese Rare Book Digital Collection. The book is notable, among other reasons, for having been published under the Ming Emperor Chenghua, who reigned from 1465 to 1487.
