White man facing fraud charges for impersonating black woman

A white business owner has been charged with tender fraud after impersonating a black woman in order to win a government tender.

A white business owner has been charged with tender fraud after impersonating a black woman in order to win a government tender.

The man, Pierre Gideon Schreuder, was arrested by the Hawks on Tuesday and appeared in the Bellville Specialised Commercial Crime Court the same day, Western Cape Hawks spokesperson Captain Lloyd Ramovha told News24 on Friday.

Schreuder is believed to have fronted his company as a black economic empowerment (BEE) entity that was fronted by a local African woman.

Ramovha said that the woman used was an ordinary employee in Schreuder's company.

But the deception resulted in Schreuder's company receiving a tender from the Western Cape Department of Agriculture worth around R377 055.

"We regard this as serious. We shall leave no stone unturned in the ensuing investigations to ensure that justice is served," Nombuso Khoza, head of the Hawks in the Western Cape, said in a statement.
