On Monday, police confirmed that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of three-year-old.
A 40-year-old man arrested on Sunday night is believed to have been renting a room in the family home.
The three-year-old’s body was found on a field in Epping by community members who have been searching for the toddler since she went missing on May 4.
Community members attended a wreath-laying ceremony for Courtney on Sunday.
Family member and spokesperson, Celeste Adonis, said that after little Courtney’s body was found, Juanita, Courtney’s mother, had to take sedatives to deal with the shock.
Members of the community said the death of Courtney has sparked outrage in the community, with many parents worrying about the safety of their children.
“I can speak on behalf of all of us, that we are absolutely outraged,” a resident told EWN.
No further information on the suspect has been released yet.
