PERSONAL details of some 300 prospective Tollbar sixth form students were accidentally sent out in a promotional email to hundreds of recipients.
A file containing the names and email addresses of the students – all hoping to secure a place to study post-16 education at Tollbar – was “inadvertently” attached to a promotional email sent to the same 300 prospective sixth formers.
The alarming data breach is being taken “exceptionally seriously” by the school, which has sent out a letter to parents reassuring them and students that an internal review will take place.
The sharing of the file from Tollbar’s administration was limited to the email being sent to each of the same group of pupils who hoping to start at the college in September. The majority of these students are already studying GCSEs at Tollbar Academy.
