Just Coal CEO denies donation being bribery
Mr Singh denies that the motive for the donation was to influence Eskom or any other person
Using his lawyers Just Coal CEO Joe Singh has withdrawn saying he paid African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) to assist him with his Eskom dilemma.
On 702 the CEO admitted to paying R500 000 with the expectation that Eskom wouldn’t terminate his contract with them.
The power utility had given Singh notice that their multi-billion rand contracted would be terminated.
On Friday Singh’s lawyer addressed a briefing in Pretoria which he was meant to address.
Sisanda Qwabe Just Coal spokesperson said: “Mr Singh denies that the motive for the donation was to influence Eskom or any other person. Just Coal will like to confirm that we’re not condoning any crime, we’re, in fact, a corporate company that’s largely involved in community programmes and our giving is voluntary and without any intent to influence or derive benefits.”
