Third man arrested in credit card fraud scheme

A Las Vegas man is in the Lancaster County Jail after authorities say he stole credit card information following a security breach at Sally Beauty Supply Co.

Prosecutors charged Yusniel Sierra-Lopez, 34, with theft over $1,500. He was taken into custody Wednesday in North Platte.

The Lincoln Police Department began investigating Sierra-Lopez and others on June 6, 2015, after the department was contacted by a compliance officer with Union Bank, according to a warrant for Sierra-Lopez’s arrest.

The Lincoln-based bank found at least 66 customers had their debit card information compromised during a 2015 data breach of Sally Beauty Supply.

Bank records, the warrant says, show about 250 unauthorized purchases, totaling $28,587.70. Of those purchases, 90 were made in Nebraska, including Lincoln, Omaha, York, Gretna, Grand Island and Papillion. The cards were also used in Iowa, Colorado, South Dakota and Missouri.
