Chaos erupted in Johannesburg’s Central Business District (CBD) on new year’s day, after one person was killed in a dramatic shootout at the intersection of Wolmarans and Simon Road.
Authorities believe the victim was in his 30s and when they arrived at the scene they found him lying on the pavement at the scene of the crime.
“Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his chest and back, and showed no signs of life,” said ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring.
“Unfortunately, nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead on the scene,” added Meiring.
The suspect is still at large and there is still no clarity on the circumstances behind the shooting.
